Alessio Lazazzera, General Manager of the iconic Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort, is this year’s winner of the prestigious “European Hotel Manager of the Year” Award that EHMA – European Hotel Managers Association – confers every year to the active member who has achieved exceptional management results during the previous year and throughout his/her career. The award was presented to him during the gala evening in the magnificent Sala degli Stucchi of the Hotel Excelsior on the occasion of the EHMA Annual General Assembly held in Venice from 12 to 14 April 2024. The Jury rewarded his ability to combine managerial innovation with an admirable vocation for the valorization of territorial and human resources. Competing with Alessio Lazazzera for the award was Ivica Max Krizmanić, General Director of the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel (Croatia).

Alessio Lazazzera, General Director of Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort and Complex Lido Activities Venice, 54 years old, is born in Campania. His professional career, with experience in some of the most famous Italian hotels, makes him one of the leading General Managers at national and European level. From 1989 to 2002 he held positions of increasing importance in CIGA Hotels, ITT Sheraton, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Relais & Chateaux, acquiring formidable 360° knowledge in each sector. From 2002 to 2015 he was at the famous Grand Hotel Quisisana in Capri, a 5-star luxury hotel affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World. Subsequently he worked as GM at the St. Regis Venice San Clemente Palace, a 5-star luxury hotel by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and then at Falisia, Luxury Collection Resort & SPA, Portopiccolo, Triest, also a 5-star luxury hotel by Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Since 2017 he has been General Manager of the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort and Complex Lido activities Venice, 5 Star Deluxe Hotel and Complex Lido Beaches and Restaurants, London & Regional Properties, member of ILH “Iconic Luxury Hotels”. This historic luxury hotel includes 2 restaurants, 3 bars, a fitness center, a conference center, banquet activities, a fleet of 7 private boats, a Beach Club with 900 Cabanas, 2 bars and 1 self-service restaurant, 380 employees. With his characteristics as a manager of international standards, capable of dealing with challenges of extreme complexity, both managerial and planning, in properties in which “perfection” constitutes the normal way of existing and acting on the market, Lazazzera has maintained and consolidated the reputation of the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido, continuing the tradition of the legendary CIGA in a non-nostalgic perspective, as a point of reference for the Venetian panorama and historic home to the Venice Film Festival. His qualities have been recognized with numerous awards.
EHMA member since 2012, he enthusiastically participated in numerous meetings and with great passion, as Chairman of the Organizing Committee, he organized the recent EHMA international Annual General Assembly which took place at the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido from 12 to 14 April 2024 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Association.
